Artists...Fiona Hall and Rosalie Gascoigne

Fiona Hall
Mourning Chorus
Inspired by the extinction of birds on New Zealand, Hall used disposable plastic chemical containers to build the 11 extinct or endangered birds- to show the destruction on nature by artificial detergent. The beaks are made from carved and cast resin then attached to empty plastic containers. The harmonious relationship between the nature and culture within the artwork is however total contrasts to the fact.

Rosalie Gascoigne
Dolly Boxes
Gascoigne arranged numerous similar plastic dolls into wooden shelves. The dolls are similar but not the same, each differs from others by the stains. The shelves are made by Gascoigne from used wood.
